Monet?

Not quite. But I do draw and paint and such...

This one's kind of old, but still up there with my personal favorites.

I may not be The New York Times, but...

I'm doing a book review!
This weekend, I finished reading One Fifth Avenue, by Candace Bushnell. Let me tell you: if you are looking for literary genius, look elsewhere. But if you are in need of a book to accompany you through your last days of beach-reading and frivolity before hitting the textbooks once again, you've come to the right place. I haven't read Sex and the City or Lipstick Jungle, Bushnell's two previous novels, but now I just might!
The characters are lovable, the writing is humorous, and the book is permeated with a feeling of the elegance of the upper class that makes you want to put on a string of pearls and start networking yourself into a group of uber-rich friends.
Over-all grade? B+

Soooo Last Season!

Semi-annually, I make up my bulletin board with a messy collage of magazine clippings, fabric swatches, to-do lists, and random pretty little odds and ends. It serves as inspiration for my outfits and drawings all throughout the season.
At the end of each season though, I feel sad dismantling my inspiration boards. So these pictures are of my Spring/Summer '10 collage. They may be obsolete, but we need to appreciate recent history!!

What do you do for inspiration? Because God knows it's necessary! There is so little light in everyday life. The fact that these few pictures can so brighten my day proves that they might just be worth a thousand words...
Have wonderful weekends everyone!

Brand New Me

Welcome, welcome, welcome to my brand new blog!!

Never having been much of a diary-writer, this feels pretty darn strange... but I'm going to push past the initial discomfort and reach for that...blogger's high?

I've decided to put intimate details of my life on the internet for anyone to read for a couple of reasons, which hopefully outweigh the inherent recklessness of doing so:

1. Everybody's doing it! Not the best argument when asking your parents for the keys to the liquor cabinet, but this isn't quite the same...
2. I need somewhere to talk about the things I want to talk about. Friends and parents are nice and all, but there's something about cyber-strangers who may potentially become cyber-friends that allows for more freedom and honesty. Worst case scenario? Nobody wants to hear what I have to say.
3. It looks like fun! There's a whole community of you guys out there. You're creative, welcoming to new-comers, and incredibly glamorous. I could use some more acquaintances like that!

So thanks for reading, thanks for replying (please do! It would put one of those idiotic smiles on my face for the rest of the day), and thanks for being you :)
